Netflix fans claim they have already found the 'best way to start 2025' after the company launched a major and 'overwhelming' library update. The streamer has already dipped their toes into live sport broadcasts with Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson boxing bout and NFL games on Christmas Day. But as the new year kicks off, it began one of its biggest eras in the genre of sports entertainment. That is because Netflix is now the new home of WWE.

A post from the Netflix UK X account in November 2024 confirmed: "WWE is coming to Netflix UK/IE from January 2025, including: Weekly episodes of RAW, SmackDown and NXT. All Premium Live Events such as WrestleMania and Royal Rumble. Select programming and historic PLEs from the archive Everything in one place, all on your existing plan!".

According to a report by the BBC, Netflix agreed to pay around more than $5bn (£4bn) for the rights to show WWE including access to its extensive back catalogue. The addition to the streaming platform has already made waves. Monday Night Raw's live debut became the title to finally dethrone Squid Game season two as the most watched series on the service globally.

Now, searching for WWE on Netflix will bring up more than a dozen options. These include selecting individual pay-per-view events such as Wrestlemania, Royal Rumble and Summer Slam. Selecting the WWE Collection on some devices will also bring up the option to focus on individual superstars from the wrestling federation's decades long history, as well as prominent times such as the Attitude era. This means even fans who haven't watched WWE since they were younger can now relive the rivalry between Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock.
