Netflix fans are split after the streamer released a new trailer for a true crime documentary that will 'likely stir up a lot of emotions'. The company have shared the first look at footage of their latest original series, which examines the tragic events behind a real life murder case that shocked people around the world. American Murder: Gabby Petito is set to be released on the platform February 17 and will follow the events which lead to the death of the 22-year-old.
A synopsis shared by Netflix states: "In August 2021, 22-year-old Gabby Petito was killed by her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, while the young couple were on a four month road trip across the United States documenting their 'van life' journey on social media.
"Two months later, Laundrie was found to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and his parents were suspected of helping to cover up the murder. "While taking viewers on a journey through Gabby and Brian’s final days together, the series will unveil the tragic reality behind their Insta-perfect life and reveal painful moments where their story might have taken a different turn.".
Netflix have yet to confirm who has taken part in their latest documentary but footage shown appears to include relatives being interviewed. Sky has brought back its viral free trial, meaning you can bag a Netflix subscription and Sky Stream for £0 for the first month, offering customers a saving of £31.
