Netflix's new 'next level' competition series has 'genuinely terrifying' aspect

Netflix has a brand new competition series releasing next week (February 5) and it looks like viewers are in for a treat. The "next level" show will see 12 famous faces dropped into the Costa Rican jungle and faced with terrifying challenges as they avoid being hunted by Bear Grylls in an elimination.
This is called the Bear Pit which has all manners of traps and mini challenges the celebrities will have to face and it doesn't sound like somewhere the contestants will want to find themselves in. Creative director of the show, Ben Mitchell, has revealed: "The Bear Pit is something to be feared, the sheer heat makes it hard enough, but it’s also brutal terrain - untamed jungle in a naturally constrained area.
"It has a crocodile in it (which we’ve nicknamed Julie), snakes, spiders, monkeys, scorpions. We haven’t put them in there, this is their home. It is genuinely terrifying. "Being pursued is frightening enough, but doing it when you know there are deadly critters, in extreme heat, when you also have to strategize and problem-solve, takes it to another level.
"Described by the cast as "hell", you do not want to lose a challenge because the Bear Pit is extreme.". The official synopsis reads: "Meet the 12 celebrities taking part in the ultimate game of cat and mouse with the legendary Bear Grylls. They’ll live together, learn survival skills and compete in epic challenges.
