New Netflix film dubbed 'bizarre and incredible' leaves fans 'genuinely baffled'

A new Netflix film that has been dubbed both "bizarre and incredible" has left many fans "genuinely baffled". Released only earlier this month, Ad Vitam quickly gained a top spot in the most-watched films on the service in the UK. The French-produced action film is still holding firm in the top ten following the release of a rival release starring Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz Back in Action. While the blockbuster is disappointing many viewers, others are advising the other title as an alternative.
The story of Ad Vitam follows a former member of a specialised military unit named Franck Lazarev, who is dismissed from his job following a tragic accident. After escaping an attempted murder, his pregnant wife is kidnapped by a mysterious group of armed men. As Franck races to find her, he is pulled into a state affair far beyond his control.
At the time of writing, the film is the sixth most-watched film in the UK on Netflix. It is only behind titles such as both of the Secret Life of Pets films, Woody Harrelson comedy Champions and Bank of Dave 2 along with new film Back in Action. It has a mixed response among both critics and viewers, however many are recommending it regardless.
One fan claimed that after fifteen minutes, they had to allow it to wash over them in order to appreciate it. They posted online: "Wow. Just wow. Ad Vitam is the kind of film that leaves you asking yourself, “What just happened?” And that, my friends, is why this movie is GENIUS.
"First of all, the plot. What even is it? Who cares! Something about immortality and teenagers rebelling, but honestly, I stopped trying to understand 15 minutes in and just let it wash over me like a poorly edited fever dream. The dialogue is so deep you’ll spend more time trying to figure out if the characters are saying something profound or if they’re just bad at talking. Either way, it’s a total vibe.".
