A global pop star known for her eye-catching looks now appears unrecognisable in a series of new shots. This week it was announced that Lady Gaga – real name Stefani Germanotta – was set to release her seventh album Mayhem in March. To mark the occasion, she’s also given an in-depth interview about how making new music allowed her to rediscover herself, as well as finding happiness with her fiancé.
In the photoshoot for Elle UK, Lady Gaga dons a long black wig while wearing a white lace dress and obscuring her face with matching white lace gloves. Another image shows her in a black pleated dress, posing while pressed up against a wall and another sees her lying in a garden whilst in a red bodysuit and thigh-high black boots.
In one striking shot, Lady Gaga is sitting in an empty room filled with chairs, sitting in the back row with her face covered with a diamante mask and huge feather jacket. It’s now been five years since her 2020 Grammy nominated album Chromatica was released, with Lady Gaga explaining the significance of her upcoming release.
‘Mayhem is about following your own chaos into whatever cranny of your life that it takes you to. And in that way, it was about following the songs. Writing as many songs as I did for this album was a labour of total love. And then you just have to be very cut-throat by the end,’ she said.
