The second update of the year for Path of Exile 2 drops today with a host of changes and balancing tweaks that should keep players happy. Path of Exile 2 launched into early access last December, and Grinding Gear Games is wasting no time in firing out updates and hotfixes to tackle bugs as well as making wider changes across the game as a whole to zero in on where it needs to be for its final release. This week, we're getting Path of Exile 2 patch 0.1.1, with the release date and time differing slightly depending on your time zone.
We've got full patch notes and release time for you, but it's a lot to wade through, so we've plucked out some of the most anticipated highlights and rounded them up here for you in case you want the tl;dr version. Game director, Jonathan Rogers, touched on these features in a Path of Exile 2 patch 0.1.1 preview video, which we've embedded below if you have the time to watch. It's worth a gander, given that you can see some of the facets of the update in action.
If an eight-minute video seems too much for your attention span, or you'd prefer to scroll through at your own pace, read on for the eight biggest changes in Path of Exile 2 patch 0.1.1. Path of Exile 2 patch 0.1.1 is set to make endgame maps a lot more rewarding than its current state with a balance pass to the number of chests, rare chests, monsters, magic and rare monsters, Essences, Strongboxes, and Precursor Artifacts. As for how this will look in-game, maps will, for the most part, specialise in one or more of these elements. So, for example, one map might have a ton of monsters, while another is brimming with Essences, Strongboxes, and Shrines. We'll also be getting four new Tower Map areas: Alpine Ridge, Bluff, Mesa, and Sinking Spire, while the existing Lost Towers Map has been redone to "make playing there less boring.".
