People have been left furious after an influencer backed her bag full of goodies at an event - and people insist she should have only taken one. The influencer culture will forever divide people - some people love social media personalities, some people loathe them. But, most of us would likely love to be invited to huge events and receive unexpected gifts. Not only do many influencers get paid well, they get a lot for free. Often brands will gift them items if an individual with a big online platform promotes them.
But some were left gobsmacked after a clip was shared on Instagram page @iamjust_agir, which showed 23-year-old Lily Whitfield stuffing a whole bag full of free goodies at an event. The influencer, who boasts 91,5000 followers on TikTok, attended an event hosted by Rimmel London to promote their popular Thrill Seeker mascara which has been hailed as "the best". On her TikTok page, Lily said: "POV you go to an influencer event and everything is free.".
Lily, who attended the event at St Paul's in London, smiles as she stuffed heaps of mascaras into a clutch bag while grinning. While Lily appears to be joking in the clip and didn't actually take home all the mascaras, many rushed to share their frustration.
One individual commented and said: "Nothing about overconsumption and greed is cute or worthy of respect and admiration." Another added: "That’s embarrassing. You’re the reason things end up having limits and regulations.". "Greed is no attractive unfortunately," added another. Telling Lily off another said: "One (or maybe 3 if you really like the product) is enough. You are not the only person attending and I highly doubt this free sample is the best thing to hit the market.".
