Princess Beatrice's baby daughter Athena has a touching link to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's three-year-old daughter Lilibet. Beatrice, 36, and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, 41, welcomed their second daughter on January 22 at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London. The premature newborn weighed just 4lb 5oz. A statement from Buckingham Palace confirmed: "Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, born on Wednesday, 22nd January, at 12.57pm, at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London.

"The baby was born weighing four pounds and five ounces. Their Majesties The King and Queen and other members of the royal family have all been informed and are delighted with the news.". Beatrice and Edoardo already share daughter Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi, three, while Edoardo is also a proud dad to eight-year-old son Wolfie from a previous relationship. Both newborn Athena and her sister Sienna share the middle name 'Elizabeth' - a touching tribute to the late Queen. And Beatrice's cousin Harry also paid tribute to his grandmother with the naming of his second child, Princess Lilibet.

Harry and Meghan chose the name because his grandmother was nicknamed Lilibet by the Royal Family - although their decision has been seen as controversial. They are by no means the only ones to honour the late monarch's name. Prince William and Princess Kate chose to call their daughter Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, a touching tribute to both the Queen and William's late mother. Princess Anne, meanwhile, named her only daughter Zara Anne Elizabeth Phillips.

There has been much celebration following Athena's birth. Proud dad Edoardo posted a tribute to his new "tiny and absolutely perfect" daughter along with a photograph of Athena wrapped in a blanket. "Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi. We welcomed baby Athena into our lives last week. She is tiny and absolutely perfect. We are all (including Wolfie and Sienna) already completely besotted with her. Our hearts are overflowing with love for you, baby Athena," he wrote.

"A massive thank you from my wife and I goes out to all the wonderful staff at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for their exceptional care and support during this incredibly special time.". Excited grandmother Sarah Ferguson also celebrated little Athena's arrival on Instagram. She wrote: "Overflowing with love and joy to be able to welcome Athena Elizabeth Rose into the world . She is already so adored and I’m incredibly blessed to be a Granny once again. So proud of Edo, Beatrice and the rest of my little 5-a-side team!".
