Rory McIlroy has revealed his final three career goals are to complete the career Grand Slam and win the Masters, win Olympic gold, and secure one more Ryder Cup victory on away soil. McIlroy has announced himself as one of the best players of his generation, having won 41 professional titles, including four major championships. Of course the one major absent from McIlroy's CV is the Masters, with the Northern Irishman still yet to get his hands on the green jacket.

Unsurprisingly this is a key target of the four-time major champion, who is without a victory on the major stage since clinching his second PGA Championship title at Valhalla in 2014. Also in his sites is becoming Olympic champion and helping Europe prevail in an away Ryder Cup for the second time in his career. "Winning the Masters, winning an Olympic medal and another away Ryder Cup, they are my three goals for the rest of my career," McIlroy told BBC Sport.

The inclusion of both the Ryder Cup and Olympics being at the top of his wish list completes quite the u-turn, having previously played down the importance of both events. McIlroy has become one of Europe's leading Ryder Cup stars, but the 35-year-old has not always been on board with the matchplay event.

"It’s not that important of an event for me," McIlroy said as a 20-year-old in 2009 prior to his Ryder Cup debut which came a year later. "It’s an exhibition at the end of the day. Obviously, I’ll try my best for the team but I’m not going to be running around fist-pumping.".
