Rory McIlroy was forced to find a new teammate to complete his Boston Common roster, after Tyrrell Hatton quit the TGL setup to make the move to LIV Golf. McIlroy and his Boston teammates will make their TGL debuts on Monday evening, as the Northern Irishman takes on league co-founder Tiger Woods and Jupiter Links GC. McIlroy will be joined by Adam Scott and Keegan Bradley, whilst Woods will play with Kevin Kisner and Tom Kim.

One player from each team sits out each gameweek, with former Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama sidelined for the Boston franchise in their opening clash. Matsuyama’s addition to the roster came in June last year, seven months after the team lineup was originally confirmed. McIlroy, Scott and Bradley were initially joined by Tyrrell Hatton, however the Englishman was cut from the squad soon after, following his move to the LIV setup this time last year.

Prior to his LIV switch, Hatton spoke of his excitement to join TGL, especially with the Boston setup backed by Fenway Sports Group (FSG) the owners of his football club, Liverpool. "Being a part of the Fenway Sports Group family through Boston Common Golf is truly surreal,” Hatton said at the time. “As a lifelong Liverpool F.C. fan, it’s a dream come true to be part of the same ownership group.

"This is an incredible opportunity to represent the spirit of excellence and winning that Fenway Sports Group embodies, and to play with some of the golfers I have admired throughout my career.”. For all the latest on news, politics, sports, and showbiz from the USA, go to The Mirror US.
