Presenter Ruth Langsford had a busy Boxing Day, including visiting her mother Joan Langsford in hospital, amid her first Christmas since publicly separating from Eamonn Holmes. Earlier this month, Ruth, 64, shared that her plans for the festive period had been disrupted by Joan, 93, fracturing her pelvis in a fall. She has since kept fans updated on her mother, who has now been in hospital for over a week.
The Loose Women panelist shared on Boxing Day that she was back visiting Joan. It came after Ruth enjoyed "brunch" at home in the morning, which included bacon, fried eggs, a sausage, a tomato and some mushrooms. She then went on a "stroll" with her rescue dog Maggie, with her having shared a few clips from the recent walk on her Instagram Story.
Ruth later showcased some festive cake in a video on the platform and revealed that she would take some to hospital. Alongside a clip of it, she told her followers on Wednesday afternoon: "Taking some Christmas cake in to Mum.". A subsequent post included footage from the visit, showing Joan breaking up the slice of cake, which was in a festive-themed napkin, whilst sat at a table. A box of shortbread and a mug were seen beside the piece of cake in the video.
Ruth also gave a glimpse of a crossword book, which later featured in another post, in the clip from hospital. And she wrote in the caption: "Boxing Day hospital visiting. She loved the Christmas cake ... thank you @nanalilyspuddings.". The next post was a photo of Ruth sat next to Joan at the same table. The pair were seen looking down at a crossword book as the former This Morning host filled in squares. She wrote: "Nothing keeps her from her crosswords.".
