School staff's foul-mouthed rant about 'kn**head' students caught in secret recording

Staff at a UK school branded kids in their care "kn**head" and "b***end" - unaware they were being recorded by a student's confiscated phone. The shocking insults were uttered by staff at Newhouse Academy in Heywood, Greater Manchester, who were caught unawares by an active recording app on a student's phone. The recording, which lasts three hours, captures a conversation between a "small number" of workers, the school's headteacher has said.
School head Alex Burnham has detailed the "difficult information" in a signed letter informing parents of the "content of the discussion" he said was between "a small number of staff". He said "disciplinary action" was taken after the expletive-laden staff conversation also included "references to popular culture that have no place in a school setting".
The Manchester Evening News, which obtained a copy of the recording, reported that one person appears to say 'silly b***h' about a student in one clip, with another seeming to ask about a pupil: "Is she a kn**head?" As the recording continues, a person can be heard replying: "Can be, why?".
Another part of the clip captures a a person appearing to say a child behaved like a "b***end" during a class. Mr Burnham's letter acknowledging the recorded conversation states that it "included negative comments about several students". He added the comments "in no way aligns with our school's values".
The letter read: "As a school we believe that we should not only celebrate with you when there is positive news, but we are also open and transparent if there is more difficult information to share. That is why we wanted to notify you about an incident that took place earlier this term where a student's phone was able to record a private conversation between a small number of staff members after their phone had been confiscated.
