Space Marine 2 maintenance takes game offline for longer than usual – here's when it's back

Surprise Space Marine 2 maintenance has been announced, taking the game offline, and while Saber Interactive has been as tight-lipped as ever about its plans, we may be seeing 2025's first update. Space Marine 2 has some big plans for 2025, and while we have a vague outline of the incoming content, Saber Interactive continues to keep comms with players minimal in terms of when content drops are happening in the Warhammer 40K title. News of today's Space Marine 2 maintenance was sprung on players last night, although the announcement doesn't seem to have made it to the game's Twitter account, so unless you're signed up to the Discord, the downtime may have caught you unawares. However, given the time that maintenance is being undertaken, it likely won't impact too many people.
The last sizeable patch was the Obelisk update which rolled out in December and brought the long-awaited Dark Angels Chapter Pack with it and was swiftly followed up by hotfix 5.1,which blasted bugs that had reared their head so that we wouldn't be grappling with control rebind issues, bugs with parry, and control mappings being reset over the holidays.
Today's Space Marine 2 maintenance might be just that; or it might see the introduction of some of the features teased in the 2025 roadmap. We can rule out custom PVP lobbies, which are coming with update 7.0, as well as PvE Horde mode, which is set for later this year. Is it possible Saber is doing a surprise Season 3 drop, along with the content promised for 'early 2025'?.
