Sky has a busy month ahead. The satellite TV firm has already announced that it will be launching something, "Smarter, brighter and better than ever" on February 11th, and now there's something else for millions to look forward to. It's just been announced that Sky is refreshing its popular NOW service, with the telly company confirming that the changes will "enhance the viewing experience" for millions of homes.

The upgrade is being implemented because NOW is switching away from its current platform and moving over to technology supplied by NBCUniversal instead. Along with a new look, it's promised that the change will help customers get to the content they want to watch faster. Explaining more, Carli Kerr, Managing Director of NOW & Sky Content, said: "Migrating to NBCU’s Global Streaming Platform means NOW members will benefit from the ongoing delivery of customer features that enhance the viewing experience and leverage the latest technologies and innovations across the platform.".

NOW is keeping the same branding and there will be no changes to the shows, films and sports currently available but Sky is boasting that the move will help deliver a " world class streaming experience" for users. Here are some of the upgrades coming to NOW starting later next month. • There will be new rails, such as Top 10s along with smoother search options. • For Sports Members, SkySports+ streams will be housed as curated collections, making it easier to get to what they want to watch in one place, such as The Miami Open tennis tournament.

• Sky says the update will make it easier to jump into the shows people are talking about, like The Day of the Jackal or The White Lotus. • There will be more choice and control for families with the introduction of Kids profiles to deliver over 10,000 episodes of award-winning kids’ content, including shows like Sky Kids Ready Eddie Go! or Boomerang’s What’s New Scooby-Doo – all ad-free.

For those not in the know, NOW is a streaming service that is beamed to TVs using the web rather than a dish. It is available via shorter 6 month contracts and it's even possible to pay monthly so you can leave at any time. Customers can also pick and mix what they want to watch with Sports, Cinema and Entertainment memberships all available at different monthly prices. It's been confirmed that the new look and upgrades will be rolled out slowly to devices from February 18 so watch this space.
