Tamara Ecclestone says she is still suffering from the trauma of burglars breaking into her home and looting £25million of cash, jewellery and gems. The socialite’s £70m mansion was targeted by a gang in 2019, in what is believed to be the UK’s biggest ever domestic raid. Tamara, daughter of F1 tycoon Bernie, was away on holiday with her family when raiders snatched diamonds and watches. She said: “It has been tough, I’ve had to adjust and put measures in place to make myself feel as secure as possible. Sadly, London is a scary place, lots of my friends have experienced similar things.”.
In 2021 three men from Italy pleaded guilty at Isleworth crown court, West London, to conspiracy to burgle in three raids – including on the nearby home of Frank and Christine Lampard. They were returned to Italy to serve their sentences of eight to 11 years. Tamara, 40, is married to 43-year-old art investor Jay Rutland, who she starred with in ITV reality show Tamara’s World. The pair have daughters Sophia, 10, and Serena, four, and Tamara said it had been hard getting her eldest girl to feel comfortable at home again.
She said: “She did struggle so we’ve just been just trying to make it as safe as possible at home and move forward. There’s nothing we can do about it. “We have talked a lot about it to her and she’s in a much better place. Seeing her even have those thoughts at such a young age was really hard to cope with.”. The mum-of-two spoke while at last week’s Autosport Awards at Camden’s Roundhouse, which she and sister Petra, 36, attended to support dad Bernie, 94, as he got a prize.
