Schools have closed for the third day running as snow and ice chaos shutters much of the UK. An Arctic blast has tipped out a massive amount of snow over the last few days, leaving large swathes of the country stuck under several-foot-deep drifts. Ice has formed where snow is light and where rain has fallen, prompting several warnings from the Met Office as travel is widely impacted.
As people struggle to travel, schools have also closed, with the government tracking educational centres that have had to turn pupils away for the third day in a row. The Government has published a list of all school closures in the UK this morning, which can be found here, with several dozen shuttered on Wednesday.
The latest round of snowfall has led the Met Office to issue four new warnings, with yellow snow and ice warnings applied across the country as conditions remain potentially treacherous. Schools have closed in some of the worst-hit areas, across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
