More than 600 Wetherspoons are open on Christmas Day - serving booze between 11am and 3pm. Pubgoers get four hours to celebrate Christmas together at Wetherspoons across the nation today, but the bars won't be serving food. Pints will be poured, spirits will be measured and wine will be swigged as the huge pub chain gets into the festive cheer.
Some 83% of its bars everywhere, from Scotland to the Southeast of England, opening their doors on December 25. Branches at large airports, like Birmingham, Heathrow and Gatwick, will be open for its regular hours today as tourists gather in terminals before their flights abroad.
But it is understood some drink menus in the other establishments might be limited - so punters are advised to check the Wetherspoons websites before they visit their closest boozer. While high street shops traditionally close their doors on December 25, some pubs and restaurants offer hospitality for those hoping to dodge Christmas cooking and washing up.
So the Mirror has compiled a list of the 664 branches open between 11am and 3pm - only 133 of the chain's establishments won't open today, it is reported. The firm did not appear to give The Sun data on which pubs are open in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
