Coronation Street aired some huge scenes last night, with lives left on the line by a huge fire. David Platt has angered villain Harvey Gaskell, leading to a harrowing chain of events. Last night, devastated fans watched on as a fire broke out in the Platts house. We don't yet know who has caused the fire - but an ignited rag was thrown into the house. Last night, horrified fans watched on as the fire travelled through the house. Shona and David were worried Lily was inside but it was actually Max who was inside as the fire made all the windows explode - but will he make it out alive?.
There is also Toyah who has been caught up in the fire. She had headed to the house to check on Sam, who had been visiting. She was confronted by Abi, who accused her of calling social services on her. Abi suffered a panic attack and then ended up hitting Toyah, who was knocked unconscious. Nick went in to save Toyah and whilst they got her out, she was seen receiving CPR on the Cobbles - will she be ok?.
We know Max is leaving the soap amid a string of cast exits. Paddy Bever, who plays Max, told us: "After much reflection and in an incredibly difficult decision, I have chosen to step away from Max, and Coronation Street, to explore new opportunities. I have been surrounded by such kindness and support every step of the way. "It’s been a great privilege to contribute to the legacy of such a well-loved and iconic show. This chapter has been unforgettable and while I look forward to what lies ahead, I will treasure these memories.".
Max's exit is seemingly connected to these big Platt scenes, with a source telling us he wrapped filming last year. "He finished filming at the end of 2024 and will exit as part of a huge upcoming storyline for the Platt family. Everyone at Corrie loves Paddy and we wish him every success for the future. This is not a surprise or a shock and is all part of the ebb and flow of characters from the show. We have many new characters joining in the coming weeks and months - and also some returning characters.".
