This article contains spoilers for tonight’s Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on ITVX. Tonight’s dramatic instalment of Coronation Street saw the Platt family home go up in flames, with several residents caught up in the blaze. Prior to the fire being started by a mystery assailant, Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) was knocked unconscious in the kitchen by Abi Webster (Sally Carman), who was suffering an hallucination.

As Abi confronted Toyah about reporting her to social services, she began to see dead son Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni), and pushed Toyah away as she panicked. Toyah hit her head on the counter and was left unconscious on the floor. After being alerted to the blaze, the Platts rushed to the scene, where Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) and Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) burst in, looking for Toyah and Lily respectively.

When Max and Shona attempted to get out of the burning building, they found that the door had jammed shut. Though Shona managed to force her way out, the door slammed shut behind her, leaving Max trapped inside.

Out on the street, Shona tried to catch her breath enough to tell David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) that Max was still trapped inside. Moments after Shona broke the news, the house was rocked by an enormous explosion, with Max seemingly still inside. It is currently unknown whether Max will die in the fire, or if he will make it out alive. In upcoming scenes, a firefighter is set to stumble across Max’s lifeless body, before quickly loading him into an ambulance.

We know that actor Paddy Bever is set to leave the cobbles after bowing out of his role as Max Turner. The actor has already filmed his final scenes, which means that his exit isn’t far off. ‘After much reflection and in an incredibly difficult decision, I have chosen to step away from Max, and Coronation Street, to explore new opportunities. I have been surrounded by such kindness and support every step of the way, Paddy, 22, said in a statement.

Talking to The Mirror, he added: ‘It’s been a great privilege to contribute to the legacy of such a well-loved and iconic show.
