The exact moment Strictly's Wynne Evans made an "unacceptable" sexual comment to about Janette Manrara has been caught on camera, with the opera singer seen smirking after making the joke at the dancer's expense. A new image shows Wynne, 52, looking to the side at mum-of-one Janette with his eyebrows raised as he leers over the professional dancer. He goes on to snigger at his own joke.
Janette, who has been hosting the Strictly Live tour, had just moved towards the group to take part in a photocall for the show when it kicked off in Birmingham. As the unsuspecting dancer stood between Wynne and EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick, Wynne was filmed suggesting a threesome with the pair.
He then seemed to make a suggestive face to Jamie who appeared to wince. He used the particularly demeaning term "spit roast", before mortified Strictly stars gave an awkward laugh. Now, the BBC Wales presenter has been warned by the broadcaster that it does "not tolerate such behaviour on the tour." The clip, which was obtained by the Mail, is likely to cause another headache for Strictly bosses, who have already had to deal with multiple misconduct allegations over recent years.
In a statement to the Mirror, Wynne said: "My language was inappropriate and unacceptable, for which I sincerely apologise." A BBC Studios spokesperson added: "We were not previously aware of the remark and did not receive any complaints. We have made it very clear to Wynne that we do not tolerate such behaviour on the tour.".
Evans looked tired as he broke cover on Instagram Stories for the first time since he was warned by his employers, after the Go Compare ad singer pulled out of the Glasgow date due to injury. He still joined the cast on stage to sing while he waits for his ankle to heal, but was forced to apologise for his behaviour.
