A 14-year-old boy was stabbed around 27 times as he rode the bus home from school in Woolwich, a court has heard. Kelyan Bokassa was attacked and killed as he travelled on the 472 bus on Woolwich Church Road on January 7. The aspiring rapper was stabbed repeatedly and died at the scene from a severed femoral artery.
A boy aged 16, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared in court this afternoon charged with murder. He was remanded in custody in a youth detention centre and is due to appear at the Old Bailey on Monday. A second boy, aged 15, has also been charged with Kelyan’s murder and is due to appear later on Thursday at the same court.
A 44-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released under investigation. Kelyan’s mum Mary told Metro her son was ‘very kind and caring’ and dreamed of becoming a chef after being inspired by Jamie Oliver.
She said: ‘My son and others were taken advantage of by gangs. They were groomed. He was on edge very scared going out.’. She added she feared for his safety when he was out on the streets of London. She told Metro: ‘It was his first day back at school. He was out with his uniform on, he was very proud. It was another day, he was happy.
