Cher has claimed she can’t actually remember who she lost her virginity to. The 78-year-old music icon opened up about her first encounter in her recent book Cher: The Memoir, Part One, recalling that it happened with a guy in Toluca Lake. During a chat show appearance on Tuesday night, host Jimmy Kimmel joked that the area isn’t far from the studio and asked if she would be able to point out the spot.
She laughed and quipped: ‘I wouldn’t remember the spot and I don’t remember the guy!’. Jimmy then responded: ‘He hasn’t reached out to you? You know he must have been telling everybody. right?’. The Believe hitmaker said: ‘No. I have people that I’ve mentioned in there and I’m wondering, what do they think?’.
She also mentioned one man she named in the book – but declined to during the television appearance – who was ‘very instrumental’ in helping her leave ex Sonny Bono, with their marriage ending after 11 years in 1975. ‘I wonder, I mentioned his whole name, so I wonder, how does he feel about it? But he must feel good, because he was a really good person,’ she added.
In her memoir, Cher admitted her first sexual experience was ‘massively overrated’. She explained that it stemmed from her having a crush on a boy in her neighbourhood who she started dating when she was 14, with them often kissing in her bedroom. But she recalled that the boy’s behaviour started to change when his friends were around, saying he went from acting ‘sweet’ to treating her ‘like an embarrassing kid’.
