Dancing On Ice is in full swing but it didn't take long before fans called to "bring back" the show's original format. Tonight, Sunday, January 26, was Movie Week on Dancing On Ice with celebrities donning costumes from Barbie, James Bond and The Sound Of Music, with presenters Stephen Mulhern and Holly Willoughby joining in on the fun as Elphaba and Glinda from Wicked.
But just before the contestants started taking to the ice for their performances, Stephen and Holly had an important update for viewers. Holly clarified: "Well tonight, there are no second chances. The lowest placed couple will go straight out of the competition with no skate-off to save them.".
Stephen then couldn't help but joke: "Yep, and we know how well that went down on social media, don't we?". Laughing, Holly pointed out: "All we're going to say is you have to vote then, don't you!". And while ITV fans were loving the costumes, it didn't take long for them to complain about this format shake-up.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one viewer, referring to comedian Josh Jones' absence after he quit due to an injury, remarked: "The fact there’s one less person and they still can’t find time for a skate-off.". Another commented: "Hate theres no skate off. Makes it just a popularity contest and not much about skill. Shame", with a third agreeing: "It's a stupid and unfair idea not to have a skate off. I don't know who thought of it.".
