Delays on London Underground commuter line after train is damaged by vandals

The London Underground is experiencing some delays this morning as the commuter rush hour is in full swing. If you’re travelling on the Piccadilly line on the Tube this morning, prepare for a slightly longer journey than usual. Most of the line continues to have severe delays for a second day due to a shortage of trains.

The end of the Piccadilly line between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge remains suspended for a third week due to difficult track conditions. Passengers should use the Metropolitan line to complete their journeys. Meanwhile, millions of people are getting ready to travel over the Christmas – meaning roads, trains and airports are set to be busy. The motoring expert RAC has revealed where the worst traffic hotspots are likely to cause chaos and the best times to travel to avoid them.

A points failure at Blackburn has closed lines running through the Lancashire station. Disruption is expected to continue until 7.30pm. This is affecting Northern routes between:. It will be weeks before ferries resume well into the New Year. Holyhead Port, owned by Stena Line, will stay shut until at least January 15 after Storm Darragh destroyed a structure on the berth of Terminal 3 on December 6. In a statement, a spokesman for Stena Line said: ‘Stena Line has been working hard to provide alternative travel arrangements for customers during the busy festive period.
