CHRISTMAS can be an expensive time of year - but thankfully your festive meal doesn’t have to be. A savvy single mum-of-four has revealed how she feeds her entire family for a tenner on December 25. Taking to her @mummybudgets account, Charlene shared how she serves up a delicious meal for her kids for just £10.76.

She wrote: “How I make Christmas Dinner with a £10 budget as a single mum of four.”. First up, Charlene showed how she picked up the main part of the meal, the turkey. Charlene bought Aldi’s £5.49 turkey breast joint, which came stuffed so she didn’t need to buy separate stuffing.

Her next purchase from the supermarket is brussel sprouts, and she insisted that you have “got to have them even if you hate them.”. Thankfully, even if you hate them they won’t break the bank, with a bag costing just 69p. The mum-of-four also stocked up on parsnips for some extra veg, but opted for their “wonky” variety to save cash.

A bag of these set her back 55p, and she also got red cabbage for 75p and carrots for just 38p. Next, she bought a bag of white potatoes, which are “perfect for mash and roasties, for £1.35. Charlene also got a bag of 46p yorkshire puddings, and said “you get loads in a pack.”.

The “Aldi essentials” bag contains 15 puddings, which works out at three per person for Charlene’s family-of-five. While this bag is 46p, there is also a bag of 12 branded ones for 99p if you want an “upgrade”, according to the mum. Finally, she bought some Bramwells gravy for £1.09 and said it “actually tastes decent.”.
