Hugh Grant and Renee Zellweger appear to have stopped the clock as they reunited on the red carpet last night, looking hardly any different to when they first starred in Bridget Jones together 24 years ago. The Hollywood icons were in jubilant spirits as they joined the rest of their Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy co-stars to celebrate the new sequel at the Paris premiere.
On Monday evening, Hugh, 64, and Renee, 55, rubbed shoulders with the likes of Chiwetel Ejiofor and Leo Woodall who also star in the upcoming rom-com. Renee, who plays the titular singleton Bridget, dazzled in a one-shoulder floor-length lace black dress while Hugh, who stars as her longtime love interest Daniel Cleaver, kept it smart and simple in a black suit and white shirt.
The British actor was animated, giving photographers two thumbs up at Le Grand Rex Cinema before cracking jokes with his co-star and on-screen love Renee. It’s the first time the pair have shared the red carpet together since the release of Bridget Jones’ Baby in 2016 and fans have been anticipating their reunion ever since. Of course, missing from all the fun this time round is Colin Firth, whose character, Mark Darcy, has died between the third and fourth instalments.
Mad About The Boy will follow Bridget as she embarks on a new journey of grief following Mark’s death and sees her navigating life as a widow with two small children. A trailer released in November teased a glimpse into Bridget’s new life as she remembers happiness with Mark while walking down the street together before he is revealed to be a memory.
