Little-known 25p pill could ease hangovers, expert claims

If you're dreading the inevitable hangover that comes with festive celebrations, there might be a solution. Hangovers are almost as synonymous with Christmas and New Year as champagne and mulled wine, but experts at Nutri Advanced suggest planning ahead could help avoid those dreaded morning-after symptoms.
They've highlighted a lesser-known vitamin that could aid your body's recovery after a night of indulgence. Milk Thistle, available from the brand in 60 capsule bottles for £14.95 or 25p per pill, has been used by many for years due to its numerous health benefits.
Studies have shown it can balance hormones, treat acne, boost cancer treatments and even enhance breast milk production. Health-wise, this small yet mighty herb is touted as the "perfect hangover cure" if taken daily before you plan on drinking. Milk thistle is typically used for three main reasons: aiding digestion, treating stomach complaints and supporting the liver. All three of these major benefits can help alleviate hangovers, and the botanical extract contains a large supply of silymarin and silybin, which can help protect the liver from toxins associated with excessive alcohol consumption.
However, it's worth noting that scientists are divided over the benefits of milk thistle for hangovers and its title as a "cure" is widely debated. Kiran Jones, a pharmacist at Oxford Online Pharmacy, suggests an alternative supplement, vitamin B, but with some specific snacks.
Kiran suggested that topping up on Vitamin B and a magnesium supplement after boozing and before hitting the sack can recharge the vitamin stores sapped by alcohol, leading to improved energy and brain function the next day. Magnesium also helps you relax those muscles for a sounder sleep and might ease any potential headaches.
