Luke Littler became the darting champion of the world by handing some of his hard-earned prize money to his brother. The 17-year-old won the PDC World Darts Championship on Friday night, crushing Michael van Gerwen 7-3 at Alexandra Palace. In doing so, the teenager became the youngest ever winner of darts’ biggest prize. Shortly after his historic victory, ‘The Nuke’ was snapped leaving Ally Pally with the Sid Waddell trophy closely in tow. He was flanked by his emotional parents, Anthony Buckley, and Lisa Littler who carried the smaller trophy, with the main event wheeled by a security guard behind.

Littler earned £500k for his maiden world triumph and was seen handing a fistful of cash to brother Leon, who returned the favour with a kiss on the head. YouTuber and close pal AngryGinge was also nearby, wearing a replica Littler top. Littler has already secured his place in the Premier League Darts, where he will look to defend his crown, but first things first is his 18th birthday - coming at the end of this month.

Already, Littler is perhaps the biggest star in the sport already, and after reaching back to back finals - losing to Luke Humphries in his first World Championship at the start of 2024 - questions are being asked whether he can potentially break Phil Taylor's remarkable record of 16 world titles.

It is something that a confident Littler believes he can achieve. "If I want the 16, then I am sure I could possibly achieve it," he said. “If deep down, if I really want it, then with my ability, I’m sure I can achieve a lot more. But I know I’m in this for a long, long time.
