Netflix has added new episodes of a show that will 'scratch the John Wick itch' with 'over the top violence' - and it's gaining new fans every week. The third episode is set to be released on Saturday, January 25. The first part is expected to contain 11 episodes in total with a second part scheduled to also be launched later this year. The series tells the action-packed story of legendary ex-hitman Taro Sakamoto, as he looks to ensure a peaceful life with his beloved family. Sakamoto used to be one of the most deadly assassins however gives it all up after he falls in love. The show's tale picks up as he has settled down into married life, with a daughter and owning a family-run convenience store in a small suburban town.

However, the world of hitmen eventually track him down and target the whole family, either seeking revenge or resenting his retired status. With the help of another former hitman and daughter of a crime boss who also work at the store, Sakamoto must protect his family—or die trying—against the criminal underworld, all while maintaining his wife's no-kill policy.

Despite it being very early days for the series, early reviews have been mostly positive. One critical response for the first opening episodes by Collider claimed that it should scratch a "John Wick itch" for fans. They also claimed that the Sakamoto Days could turn out to be one of the best shows of the year and warned that viewers should expect "over the top violence" even in the early episodes.
