Netflix's popular live-action anime is set to release its second season this year, but fans have a long wait yet. Based on Eiichiro Oda's Japanese manga series of the same name, the show premiered to overwhelming acclaim in August 2023. The plot sees Monkey D. Luffy (played by Iñaki Godoy) and his crew sailing oceans and exotic islands on a quest make him the pirate king.

Upon its debut, viewers praised the adaptation for staying true to its source material and capturing the adventurous spirit of the story. Although the second season was rumoured to hit screens in 2025, the streamer had not confirmed an official release window, until now.

The streaming giant's news platform, Tudum, let the release date slip last week. In a now-deleted article announcing the LEGO and Netflix collaboration, they wrote: "Ahoy, Straw Hats! The Lego Group, Netflix, and Tomorrow Studios are teaming up to bring you treasures you can cherish.".

Tudum went on to reveal: "While you wait for new episodes of One Piece, which arrive later this year.". Although the news did not reveal an exact return date, it confirms that the show can be expected in the latter half of this year. Back in November 2024, Vincent Regan, who plays Vice-Admiral Garp, predicted a Christmas 2025 release.

During an appearance at Vienna Comic-con, he said: "I’ve filmed Season 2, everything my character is doing in Season 2 is finished, and now they are finishing in about a month, I think they’ll finish filming. "So I think the show will be ready for Netflix before Christmas next year.".
