Outnumbered fans are only just realising that a huge Hollywood star was in a Christmas special - but not the one that aired last week. The BBC sitcom, which followed the Brockman family including children Jake, Ben and Karen, returned to our screens on Boxing Day. But unlike the Gavin and Stacey special, which received rave reviews and achieved historic Christmas Day rating figures, Outnumbered was criticised on social media by people who described the storyline as "bleak" and pointed out awkward moments.

And in the days after the Christmas special starred, some fans have cast their attention back to previous years, with some pointing out that an A-list star starred in the episode which starred in 2016. A TikTok user shared a clip in which Jake, played by Tyger Drew-Honey, is with his girlfriend.

His dad, played by Hugh Dennis, can also be seen in the clip. However, all eyes are actually on Hollywood actress Daisy Edgar-Jones, who is mainly known for starring in miniseries Normal People. The role earned her nominations for a British Academy Television Award and a Golden Globe Award.

But four years ago, she appeared in the Outnumbered festive special as Jake's girlfriend - something that not everyone had noticed at the time. Spotting Daisy in the clip, a fan wrote: "OMG WHAT?!" while another said: "There's no way!!". Outnumbered ran from 2007 to 2014 on BBC One and the 2024 Christmas special was the first time it returned to our screens since the 2016 episode. The latest festive episode opened with Pete and his wife Sue preparing to welcome their three children to the new family home for Christmas, before he revealed he will be undergoing a prostatectomy – a surgery which removes the prostate gland.
