Security at homes around the area in south west London where Ted Lasso is filmed is being beefed up after a series of raids by burglars who have plundered millions in jewellery and cash. Four properties in Richmond were ‘targeted’ by thieves in November and December.

One of the homes belongs to the character played by Hannah Waddingham in the show, residents said. However the burglary team fled empty handed after being disturbed. A resident told Metro: ‘They tried to get in the home where Hannah Waddingham lives in the show in the middle of the afternoon about 4pm.

‘They put a ladder up the back of the house, it was so brazen. They were disturbed we think when owners of the house heard a loud thump. ‘They went to investigate and found a window half opened. They assumed the window had blown it and didn’t think anything of it. Then they later found a ladder against the wall at the back of the house.

‘We were obviously suspicious and looked at the CCTV covering the area. They saw ‘shadowy figures’ trying to gain entry. They must have left the ladder because they were in a hurry to leave.’. The resident said everyone was reviewing their security following the string of raids over November and December. They are even considering bringing in a private security firm to patrol the area, as is the case in high end neighbourhoods like Hampstead in north London.
