Ruben Amorim wastes no time in deciding blundering Man Utd star must be replaced

Manchester United are eyeing goalkeepers to provide greater competition for Andre Onana. The Cameroon star has being the No. 1 at Old Trafford since arriving in a £47.2million deal from Inter Milan and has been relatively untroubled in his position. Onana endured a difficult start to life at United as he made a catalogue of errors but has settled into a stable presence in goal.
Carabao Cup defeat to Tottenham saw back-up option Altay Bayindir selected for a rare night guarding the net. But the Turkish shotstopper was unconvincing in the 4-3 loss. Bayindir first parried Pedro Porro's effort into the path of Dominic Solanke, who was able to open the scoring as a result. The 26-year-old then failed to prevent Son Heung-min's goal direct from a corner, though he believed he was fouled by Lucas Bergvall.
Reports suggest United continue to track Leeds United's Illan Meslier. After targeting the Frenchman two years ago, scout Tony Cotton has retained his interest, despite Meslier having some difficult moments after Leeds' relegation. Still just 24, Meslier has already made almost 200 appearances for the Yorkshire side. The goalkeeper has kept 12 clean sheets so far this season.
The Red Devils are also said to be monitoring the situation of Botafogo shot-stopper John Victor, and have previously been linked to Sunderland goalkeeper Nathan Patterson. Bayindir has been offered scant opportunity since arriving at Old Trafford in 2023, in a £4.3m deal from Fenerbahce. Earlier this season, the goalkeeper spoke of his frustration at being unable to prove himself.
