Lord Sugar is back for another series of his BBC series, The Apprentice, but fans are threatening to ‘switch off’ just moments into the first episode. As the series began, Lord Sugar invited the contestants into the board room to get to know them before the process kicked off. Sitting alongside Karren Brady and Tim Campbell, Lord Sugar was up to his usual tricks of ‘taking the mick’ out of the candidates.
Candidate Emma had revealed she liked to take a ‘two hour lunch break,’ of course, to Lord Sugar’s dismay. She then revealed she went to work extra early, so she could take an extended lunch break to go to the gym. Swiping back, Lord Sugar said: “You’re going to be the first candidate to ask me to work from home!” The jibe had the rest of the candidates chuckling, but fans at home weren’t as impressed. Some even threatened to ‘switch off’ if it meant they had to listen to the businessman’s jokes all season.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one penned: “It's been on for 30 seconds and I already can't cope with their fake laughter #TheApprentice,” while a second said: "First two minutes of this is making me want to turn it off.". “What happens if you don't laugh at Lord Sugar 's jokes? #TheApprentice ," said a third, while a fourth claimed: “If i went on The Apprentice i’d probably be fired because I would not be able to laugh at Lord Sugars terrible jokes!”.
Although fans think they’re having de ja vu with Lord Sugar’s jokes, this series contains a show first. Usually, the girls and boys will be in separate teams until enough people have been fired to mix them up. However, in this series, Lord Sugar decided to switch it up. Before the candidates headed off to Austria for their tour task, the girls were placed on one side of the boardroom, while the boys were on another.
In a show first, Lord Sugar decided to mix up the teams, telling the candidates standing up at the back to switch over, so both teams had both boys and girls in them. Fans were all for the shake up, as one penned: “Mixing the teams up on week 1, about time #TheApprentice , while a second commented: “Mixing the teams up from Week 1 for the first time ever. BRING ON THE DRAMA!”. Like this story? For more of the latest showbiz news and gossip, follow Mirror Celebs on TikTok , Snapchat , Instagram , Twitter, Facebook ,YouTubeand Threads .
