The Apprentice star Tim Campbell admitted the thought of getting fired crossed his mind when Lord Sugar called him into the boardroom, 20 years after winning the show. The countdown begins until The Apprentice returns for season 19 with the BBC reality show making a comeback on Thursday, January 30, at 9pm.

While Lord Sugar will of course be at the heart of all the drama, his trusted advisors Baroness Karren Brady and Tim Campbell MBE will be on hand to keep a watchful eye over the new batch of candidates. Prior to Tim becoming the self-made billionaire’s right-hand man, he was a contestant on the show who won the very first series of The Apprentice back in 2005.

The 47-year-old went on to work for Lord Sugar before branching out on his own with a variety of businesses including a property consultants and a social enterprise to help young entrepreneurs from disadvantaged backgrounds. Tim’s predecessor, Claude Littner, unfortunately had to step down from the show in 2021 after a “freak accident” where he was knocked off his bike.

Talking to Mirror.co.uk, Tim explained: “Lord Sugar gave me a call and said ‘Tim, I need you to do me a favour. You need to get back in.’. “I was like ‘What have I done? I don’t want to get fired! I thought I escaped that bit, I don’t want to go back.’.

“But when he explained the gravity of the situation, the first thing was condolences for Claude [Littner], because obviously he was in his accident. “But we’re really thankful that he’s now a permanent fixture back in the show on the interviews, he’s always there.
