Fans have been left disappointed for one reason after the release date for The Last of Us season two was finally confirmed. The hit show, based on Naughty Dog's award-winning PlayStation video game series, had long been touted to launch 'some time' in 2025. It seemed as soon as the clock struck midnight on January 1, fans have been clamouring for an official announcement - and now they have it.

Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey will make their long-awaited return to our screens as the beloved Joel and Ellie in April, meaning fans still have months more to wait. The new season will debut exclusively on Sky. The seven-episode season will once again feature Gabriel Luna as Tommy, and Rutina Wesley as Maria. New cast members include Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Jeffrey Wright as Isaac.

Catherine O'Hara has officially been named to guest star in the show. She will reportedly play Joel's therapist. The news was revealed in an awe-inspiring and tense new trailer. The 55-second clip, which teases fans with faces new and old, ends with 'SEASON II APRIL' in huge text.

Reacting to the news, one fan posted on X: "Finally, it's here. Awesome." Another added: "It's definitely going to be series of the year," while one could not hide their excitement, penning: "OMG, I CAN'T WAIT. The Last of Us season two is going to be epic, bring it on!".
