Tributes to teen, 18, 'taken too soon' in Ilkeston stabbing as 7, including schoolgirl, 15, arrested

Tributes have poured in for an 18-year-old 'loved by everyone' who was stabbed to death as seven people, including a 15-year-old schoolgirl, have been arrested. The victim was named locally by friends as Noah Smedley, who was stabbed in Rose Avenue, Ilkeston, Derbyshire at about 8.20pm on Saturday. He died on Heanor Road just before 9pm the same day.
Derbyshire Police said four 17-year-old boys were arrested on suspicion of murder following the stabbing. A girl, 15, a 16-year-old girl, 52-year-old man and one of the 17-year-old boys were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender in connection with the investigation.
Several friends have since named the victim as Noah Smedley. They have also shared Derbyshire Police's appeals for information on the stabbing while also posting their own tributes to the teen. DerbyshireLive reported one friend wrote on Facebook: "Fly high - gone way too soon. Loved and missed by everyone. My heart goes out to your family. RIP Noah Smedley.".
Another wrote: "Rest in peace Noah Smedley. Gone too soon, you'll be missed by everyone, funniest person I knew." Another friend added: "Noah Smedley RIP. Rest easy mate, will be missed.". Police are appealing to anyone with any information that could help enquiries to come forward, especially those who may have CCTV or video doorbell footage or dashcam footage covering the areas of Heanor Road, Rose Avenue, Summerfields Way, Kedleston Drive and Peveril Drive between 7pm and 9pm. The East Midlands Special Operations Unit is leading the investigation.
