video. Up Next. Zoe Ball has signed off from her BBC Radio 2 breakfast show for the final time after an emotional morning on the station.
Hanging up her headphones for the final time to the song Keeping The Dream Alive by Münchener Freiheit, Zoe said to her listeners: ‘Take care of yourselves, lovely peeps. My top cats. Merry Christmas everyone.’. ‘This is for everyone who has listened,’ said Zoe in tears, as she introduced her penultimate song on the show, Do I Love You by Frank Wilson.
Zoe, 54, thanked her colleagues for holding her up ‘quite literally when [she] was at [her] lowest’ and her kids – Woody and Nell – who she said ‘fill [her] with wonder every day’. ‘Pretty cool to be the first lass to host and I won’t be the last,’ Zoe said of her being the first women to present the weekday slot.
She added a powerful statement: ‘Remember girls, you can do anything.’. In her closing speech, Zoe said: ‘It’s been a real priviledge to keep you company through your morning manouvers. You’re just there and I’m just here having a chat with a mate. It’s such a special intimate relationship. It’s never lost on me.
‘We’ve been through life’s little highs and little lows together. I really do hope we’ve been able to bring some sunshine and light when you’ve most needed it, a daft distraction from the harder stuff. I’ve been bowled over by your messages across the years. Thank you for sharing your stories with me.’.
