Footage shows the moment a tourist is sent flying by a train while she is taking a selfie. Liu Nu, 55, was standing too close to the railway track when she was knocked to the ground in the incident that took place in Taiwan. Witnesses can be heard screaming in shock as they rush to help her.
In the video, Liu can be seen first with her back to the train as she appears to try and get a photo of herself alongside it. And even when the train blows its horn she take no notice as she is fully concentrated on taking her snap. And then the train strikes her on the right shoulder knocking her to the ground and at first she stays still before starting to move her legs slightly and obviously in pain.
The woman was bandaged up before being rushed to a nearby hospital and fortunately she did not suffer major injuries although an examination did find she had broken her left foot. As a result of the accident, the train was delayed for around one hour, affecting a total of 62 passengers.
The train was travelling from Chiayi to Alishan in Taiwan on December 14 when the incident took place. It has been reported that a group of people had made their way onto part of the railway track to take photos. They were on a trip organised by an agency called Dream International Travel Agency.
An alarm was sounded immediately, as people are not allowed that close to the line, the Lin Tie Cultural and Capital Office responded on December 15. They said that the travel agency that was with the group had a criminal record, and that it will be requested that the agency is prohibited from applying to enter that area for one year. The agency was also fined £5,000.
