Police are searching for anyone who saw a woman with a red handbag at a popular beach in Cornwall. The young woman – believed to be in her late teens or early twenties – was found dead in the sea, near cliffs by the town of Porthtowan. Any witnesses who saw a woman with a slim build, dark hair, a black outfit and a red handbag between Friday (February 7) and Saturday (February 8) afternoon are urged to come forward to the police.

The woman, believed to be from the Truro area, was found by a lifeboat around 3 pm on Saturday. Devon and Cornwall Police said: ‘Anybody who witnessed a female at the cliffs in Porthtowan is asked to contact police on 101 or via our website quoting 50250033859. ‘The female in question was described as being a white female, appearing to be in her late teens/early 20s, of slim build, with dark hair and wearing black shoes, black trousers, a black top and a lightweight black coat. She was carrying a red handbag.’.
