A three-year-old boy has had surgery after being bitten in the face by a Staffordshire Bull Terrier-type dog. Police Scotland has appealed for witnesses to the incident in Irvine, southwest Scotland, at around 6pm on Thursday. The boy was approached by a dog without an owner in Leven Place in the Castlepark area of the town, the force said in a statement.
The animal, described as a cream-coloured "Staffordshire Bull Terrier-type of dog", bit him in the face. He was taken to nearby University Hospital Crosshouse, where he had surgery for facial injuries. Keep up with all the latest news from the UK and around the world by following Sky News.
