The Split star Nicola Walker is gearing up for a laugh as she joins a new Disney+ comedy created by the minds behind Baby Reindeer. Known for her roles in hits like Unforgotten, Annika and Last Tango in Halifax, Walker will headline the show produced by Clerkenwell Films - the production company behind Netflix's popular stalker drama. Alongside her, Jemaine Clement from Flight of the Conchords will co-star in the series called Alice and Steve. Although the plot remains hush-hush, with more actors yet to be cast, filming is set to start come May.

A TV insider spilled the beans to The Sun, saying: "Nicola Walker is an extremely talented and versatile actor and is widely respected in the industry and loved by viewers at home.". They added, "Disney securing her for one of their new comedies is seen as a big win for the streamer, who are equally delighted to have signed up Jemaine.". It's being reported that pre-production on Alice and Steve is well underway, though some contracts still need ironing out, along with scripts and the filming timeline.

They're aiming to get cameras rolling before the summer kicks in, eyeing a release possibly in 2026, reports the Express. Meanwhile, Nicola delighted fans with a special spin-off of the beloved BBC drama The Split, dubbed The Split: Barcelona. This two-part special took us to Spain in December to join the Defoe family at a wedding teetering on the edge. Last year, the actress graced our screens in Sky Atlantic's historical drama Mary and George, portraying the gripping tale of the ambitious Mary Villiers (played by Julianne Moore) and her son George (Nicholas Galitzine), as they schemed their way through the social ranks.

Nicola took on the role of Elizabeth Hatton, a lady-in-waiting to Anne of Denmark, the queen consort of England. It's been all go for Nicola, who is also gearing up to make waves on stage in Mike Bartlett's latest comedy, Unicorn, set to debut at London's Garrick Theatre come February 4. Joining her are The Split colleague Stephen Mangan and Erin Doherty of The Crown fame. "Polly and Nick have it all. Happily married, two children, successful careers. And yet there's something missing... something rare and unforeseen... waiting to add a much-need sparkle," hints the play's blurb.
