Gavin and Stacey fans gutted after spotting two key characters missing from finale

The Gavin and Stacey finale brought back so many familiar faces who made the ending ‘perfect’ but fans have spotted two integral characters missing from Smithy’s wedding. Five years after Nessa (Ruth Jones) got down on one knee to propose to Smithy (James Corden), we finally learned what happened next.

Gavin (Mathew Horne) interrupted the big moment and Smithy fled the scene before he had a chance to answer. The next day Nessa discovered he was back with Sonia (Laura Aikman) and they just pretended the proposal never happened. Since 2019, fans have been praying Smithy said yes and complained Christmas had been ruined when it turned out he was marrying Sonia instead.

Thankfully, Gavin saved the day just before the nuptials and told Smithy he was making a mistake. One by one, Smithy’s family and friends stood up in agreement and he jilted Sonia at the alter to chase after Nessa who was boarding a boat about to start a new life at sea.

He caught her, proposed and Gavin and Stacey wrapped up with the couple getting married at Pam and Mick’s house and having their ceremony at the pub. It was a roller-coaster and then some for fans who wept at the perfect ending. However, they also noticed two huge characters missing from the chaos.

Before his wedding, Smithy celebrated the ‘most important day of his life’ – his stag do. All the boys were there apart from one key member – Deano (Matthew Baynton). X was flooded with fans asking for his whereabouts, with Cerys Thirwall posting: ‘My only question regarding gavin and Stacey: WHERE WAS DEANO????’.
