An iconic romantic-comedy film that catapulted A-list actress Emma Stone into leading lady status back in 2010 is now available to stream on Amazon Prime Video. 15 years after its debut, this outrageously funny and infinitely quotable high school flick continues to amass a huge cult following.
It has since joined the ranks of some of the most obsessively re-watched teen comedies of all time, from Heathers to Mean Girls. Many see it as the pinnacle high school comedy of the 2010s and some insist it’s still not been surpassed to this day. We’re, of course, talking about Easy A, the unlikely escapades of Olive Penderghast (played by Stone), a 17-year-old high school student who finds herself the victim of insidious high school rumours.
When she lies about losing her virginity to her best friend, Olive soon becomes the centre of attention with boys all but queuing around the block to have their first sexual experience with her. This raunchy rom-com perfectly captures the feelings of teen angst and haywire hormones during high school, with a stellar supporting cast featuring the likes of Penn Badgley, Stanley Tucci, Lisa Kudrow and Amanda Bynes in her final film role.
