Keisha Buchanan has revealed her near-death experience after being involved in a horror car crash. The Sugababes singer, 40, blacked out at the wheel during the terrifying experience. She has decided to open up to fans about the incident, which happened last year. Keisha reflected on the past 12 months and thought it was time to share her car crash with her followers.
She posted a photo from the scene, which showed a smashed telephone box and a police car with its blue lights flashing. Keisha shared: "This time last year I blacked out at the wheel… Thank you Jesus for my life. Thankful for another year… will speak more on the cause behind the black out another time. Just happy to be here.”.
The singer was part of the original Sugababes lineup alongside Mutya Buena and Siobhán Donaghy when she was just 13-years-old. She joined the band in 1998 and went on to have huge success. However, things came crashing down for Keisha in 2009 when she was dumped from the group by text. She recently admitted she is “still confused by some of the things that happened during that time”.
Original member Siobhán was replaced by Heidi Range after the first album was released and Mutya was replaced by Amelle after she quit the band in 2005. Final band member Jade Ewen went on to replace Keisha - and the group disbanded soon after. Reflecting on the moment she was axed from the band, Keisha told The Receipts Podcast: "I didn't leave. I was replaced. I got a text message. Well, they told me that the band had disbanded, they said they didn't want to continue.".
