'We both have a five year plan to marry and start a family': Find out if it was a match for Anu and Mehari on this week's Blind Date

ANU, 29. Single for over a decade. Dating Past?. I was in a brief relationship at 18, but throughout my 20s I couldn’t date much due to being the primary carer for my mother. Mum died last year and it’s only now I feel ready to date again. My family are focused on finding me someone, and I have no doubt my name and profile are on more WhatsApp community matchmaking groups than I care to think about.
Pre-Date Nerves?. The only thing that would make me uncomfortable is conversations around politics, because I’m very pro women’s rights. Anu (pictured) is 29 and has been single for over a decade. Unable to make time for dating while she was caring for her sick mother, Anu is now prioritising trying to meet someone.
First Impressions?. Not good, and that was the restaurant’s fault for seating us at different tables by mistake. When we finally found one another after ten minutes alone, we had a quick hug hello. I thought Mehari was a sweet, well-presented guy. He had a warm energy that immediately put me at ease. He told me my green dress was very nice, which was decent of him.
Easy To Talk To?. We talked about our careers. Mehari is ambitious, focused on making money to support his future family. He also supports his parents, which is a big tick for me. But it’s a red flag that his focus leaves him no room for hobbies – he enjoys swimming and hiking but doesn’t make time for them. He says he’ll travel more when he finds a partner.
