Call the Midwife is back on BBC One with the fifth episode of season 14 and Sister Julienne (played by Jenny Agutter) faces a huge emotional battle. A solo delivery tests her skills as she helps a mother through a traumatic birth. At the same time, the desperate mother is overcoming a personal crisis. Meanwhile, Shelagh Turner (Laura Main) is overseeing the care of a man living inside an iron lung. Elsewhere in Poplar, Violet Buckle (Annabelle Apsion) exercises her powers on the council to launch the Poplar Commonwealth Games. She enlists the help of Cyril Robinson (Zephryn Taitte), who has returned from visiting Lucille (Leonie Elliott).

Most of the main cast will be returning, including newcomer Sister Catherine (Molly Vevers), as viewers find out more about her personal struggles.
